How Tria Points and Mystery Boxes Work in Season 3

How Tria Points and Mystery Boxes Work in Season 3
Tria

Season 3 introduces Tria Points, the core rewards layer on Tria.

Users earn Points through eligible product activity inside Tria, including card spend, trading, referrals, and key first-time actions. These Points help users unlock Mystery Boxes across higher reward levels.

The more users spend, trade, refer, and participate, the more Points they can collect.

Points serve one main purpose in Season 3: they help users unlock Mystery Boxes.

This is not a points store. Users do not spend Points to redeem boxes. Once a user crosses a Points threshold, they earn that box, and their Points balance is not debited.

Mystery Boxes also do not open instantly. Earned boxes become openable at the end of every calendar month, starting Aug 31. After that, openings continue monthly through the season.

For traders, Season 3 makes trading activity count from day one. Hyperliquid and Decibel trading both earn Tria Points, with Decibel earning a 5% Points premium. Trader VIP Badges are also coming soon, adding a deeper trading-volume-based progression layer later in the season.

How to earn Tria Points

Users can earn Points through different types of activity.

One-time bonuses are not included in referral bonus calculations. This includes the membership purchase bonus, the first card transaction bonus, and the first trading bonus.

Referral Points are separate from referral commissions. Referral commissions, active-referral rules, claim mechanics, and ambassador-specific rules are covered in the referral deep dive.

Decibel trading gets a 5% Points premium

Trading on Decibel earns 1.05 Points per $100, compared with 1 Point per $100 on Hyperliquid. That gives Decibel activity a 5% Tria Points premium.

Tria awards the Tria Points. Decibel may separately reward users through Decibel AMP Points and Decibel Airdrop allocation, based on Decibel's own reward rules.

For users who trade through Tria, Decibel becomes a strong route because it can combine:

  • Tria Points from Tria
  • Decibel rewards from Decibel
  • Potential Decibel airdrop positioning

What are Mystery Boxes?

Mystery Boxes are the main rewards in Season 3.

As users earn Tria Points, they unlock boxes across higher tiers. The higher the box, the stronger the reward potential.

Mystery Box opening schedules will be announced separately. Users can track their Points and unlocked boxes through the Season 3 experience.

How Mystery Box openings work

Mystery Boxes open at the end of every calendar month.

The first Season 3 box opening is Aug 31. After that, openings continue on Sep 30, Oct 31, and onward through the season.

A few rules matter:

  • Boxes do not open instantly when a user crosses a threshold.
  • Earned boxes wait until the next month-end opening.
  • Users must tap Open in the app.
  • Boxes do not auto-open.
  • Earned boxes do not expire.
  • Users can earn one box per rarity per season.

The exact reward allocation may vary by box. For example, a minimum USD value may be delivered fully as cashback, fully as travel credits, or as a mix of reward types.

Retro Points from the pre-launch period

Some users started using Tria after Season 2 ended and before Season 3 formally went live.

Eligible activity completed during this retro period, from May 6 until the Season 3 launch/cutover, will be counted toward Tria Points in Season 3.

This means eligible card spend, trading activity, referrals, and other qualifying actions completed during this period can contribute to a user's Season 3 Tria Points balance once Season 3 is live.

A few things to note:

  • Retro activity counts toward Tria Points, not cashback.
  • Points will be calculated using the final Season 3 rules and eligibility criteria.
  • One-time bonuses, exclusions, and referral bonus rules will follow the same Season 3 logic.
  • Final Points may be subject to validation, anti-farming checks, and operational review.
  • Cashback rules are separate. The new Season 3 cashback caps and floor rates apply only from the cashback cutover onward.

If you used Tria during the retro period, your eligible activity will still count toward your Season 3 Tria Points.

Example: how Points can stack

Here is what Season 3 progress can look like for an active user.

A user spends $2,000 per month on a Signature card. Since Signature earns 1.5 Points per $1, that gives them 3,000 Points per month.

They also trade $100,000 per month on Decibel. Since Decibel trading earns 1.05 Points per $100, that gives them around 1,050 Points per month.

They refer 5 friends, and those friends generate 3,000 Points each from eligible activity. The user earns a 10% referral bonus, which adds 1,500 Points.

If this is their first Season 3 activity, they can also earn one-time bonuses:

  • Signature or Premium membership purchase: 2,500 Points
  • First card transaction: 2,500 Points
  • First $10K+ trade: 5,000 Points

That brings Month 1 to around 15,550 Points.

At that point, the user has unlocked the Starter Box at 5,000 Points and the Frequent Box at 15,000 Points. From there, the next reward is the Common Box at 30,000 Points.

The Season 3 Points loop

Season 3 Points are designed to make product activity visible and rewarding.

Users can spend, trade, refer, and participate, and those actions earn Points. Points unlock Mystery Boxes, and higher activity builds toward higher box tiers.

That is the progression loop for Season 3. Users earn Points, unlock Mystery Boxes, and keep building through the season.

FAQ

Are Tria Points the same as cashback? No. Cashback is a card reward based on your membership tier and cashback rules. Tria Points unlock Mystery Boxes. Eligible card spend can earn both at the same time, and cashback caps do not affect how many Points you earn.

What is the difference between Tria Points and Decibel AMP Points? Tria Points are awarded by Tria and count toward Season 3 progression, including Mystery Box unlocks. Decibel AMP Points are part of Decibel's own rewards system. They do not replace Tria Points and are tracked separately by Decibel.

Why does Decibel trading earn more Tria Points than Hyperliquid? Decibel trading earns 1.05 Tria Points per $100 in trading volume, while Hyperliquid earns 1 Tria Point per $100. That gives Decibel a 5% Tria Points premium in Season 3.

Does trading on Decibel guarantee a Decibel airdrop? No. Decibel AMP Points and Decibel Airdrop allocation are governed by Decibel's own rules. Tria Points and Decibel rewards are separate systems.

When is the first Mystery Box opening? The first Season 3 Mystery Box opening is Aug 31. After that, openings continue at the end of every calendar month.

Do boxes open immediately after I unlock them? No. Earned boxes become openable at the next month-end opening. Users tap Open in the app to open them, and earned boxes do not expire.

Do my Points get used up when I unlock a box? No. Points are not spent or debited. Once you cross a threshold, you earn the box and your Points balance stays the same.

Can I earn the same box twice? No. Users can earn one box per rarity per season.

Does Infinity have a Points threshold? No public Points threshold or unlock path has been defined for Infinity yet.

Is equity guaranteed in Rare or Legendary? No. Rare and Legendary include a Tria Equity Draw at the end of the season. The draw mechanic is still being finalized.

Will every user with the same box get the same reward? Not necessarily. Mystery Boxes may contain different reward allocations depending on the box tier and final reward design. A minimum USD value may be delivered fully as cashback, fully as travel credits, or as a mix.

Can Tria Points be transferred or sold? No. Tria Points are part of Season 3 progression and are tied to user activity inside Tria. They are not positioned as transferable tokens.

Will my activity before Season 3 launch count toward Tria Points? Yes. Eligible activity from May 6 until the Season 3 launch/cutover will be counted toward Tria Points in Season 3, subject to final Season 3 rules, eligibility checks, and validation. Cashback rules are separate and follow the cashback cutover timeline.
